Options This section gives a small insight into just some of the options and variants available with your Log & Cedar Home. Homes from the Linwood collections, are all bespoke in nature, and while there are base constituents of the design specification, the home packages can be adapted and individualised to a high degree, whether as part of the Home Package supplied, or to take account of features you may be "building-in" such as underfloor heating or maybe a natural slate roof finish. Whatever your choices may be, we are confident that we can help you incorporate them into your new design. Within 'The Scotia Range' the options are more limited, but we will still endeavour to help you where possible. See the table below to show which are applicable. Design :- Homes within the Linwood collections, should be regarded as indicative only, and we are happy to create specific layout to your requirements . . . see our "Custom Designs" section. Cedar Siding :- The one key component of all our homes, is the use of Western Red Cedar however, we can offer alternative sizes and profiles. The standard within a Linwood package is their 1x6 Channel (see fig. 'Profile 1') but we can also offer : (all Western Red Cedar) 1x6 T&G 'V' Joint, Combed Face 1x8 Bevel Resawn 1x10 or 1x12 Haida Skirl Bevel 1x10 Board & 1x3 Batten 2x8 Log Look (round) 2x12Log Look (round) R & R Shakes/Shingles Cape Cod Profiles (various) Click to Enlarge

Some of the options and variants available with your Log & Cedar Home

Roofing :- Within the standard specification, an asphalt based roofing shingle is included. These can be omitted if required. However, as we understand that your own preference, or that of the planning authority can dictate, an alternative may be required. We can supply the following alternatives :- Fibreglass Reinforced Asphalt Based Roof Shingles - various wind ratings - algae resistant - square or angle cut appearance Metal Roofing WRC Premium V.G. Shakes, 10" Exposure, CCA Treated We can also amend our specifications to accommodate :- Natural Slate Roof Synthetic Slate Roof Finishes Clay or Concrete Tiles Other Finishes Windows:- As shown within the specification pages, we use windows as supplied by Black Millwork. They offer 'Andersen' windows with the wide range of options available through their ranges. These include a very attractive range that look like sash-and-case format - the 'Woodright' format. Window options :- Alternative 'Andersen' Profiles; Formats and Ranges 'Andersen' Glass Options including 'Andersen Art Glass' 'Andersen' Fenestration Options (Divided Lights) 'Eagle' Window Range Black Millwork all Wooden window range. Skylights :- 'Velux' or equivalent opening skylights 'Columbia' fixed glazed rooflights Covered Entry's / Porches / Decks & Balconies :- These can all be considered in a wide range of styles and finishes. Sizes, shapes, covered, pitched roof, sloping roof Decking finishes : alternative WR.Cedar / Synthetic Decking Roof Finishes (see 'roofing') Balustrade Alternative : Handrail & Spindle Options; Lam.Glass; Metal Support Posts & Beams : Douglas Fir (various) ; Round Cedar Posts (various); Glulam. Roof & Support Beams :- Linwood specify CSA Douglas Fir Glulam for their ridge beams. The Scotia 'Mountain' specification uses European Whitewood Glulam Beams. Linwood offer the following options :- Solid Douglas Fir Timbers, Free Of Heart Centres Log Beams Upper Floor Joists (where applic.) :- SPF Joists are standard to Linwood. 'I' Joists are standard (where applic.) to The Scotia 'Mountain' specification. 'I' joists are an option to the Linwood packages. Internal Doors :- Within the Linwood packages, internal doors are not supplied as standard. Doors are normally supplied prehung within redwood frame.
