Western Red Cedar
  • The native people of the Pacific North West of North America, called this the "Tree Of Life" as it provided them with so much, from boats to clothing.
  • It is very resilient to natural decay, and is defined as “Durable” for imported varieties, within the NHBC Standards. Only one other softwood attains this level.
  • W.R.Cedar is also very resistant to insect damage.
  • It is a very straight and stable material.
  • It accepts stains and paints well, as it is free of pitch and resin.
  • It is lightweight dues to its open cellular structure, and hence this gives it an insulation value well ahead of others. It smells wonderful.
